A devastating road accident occurred on the highway in Mykolaiv region, resulting in 12 deaths. Six more people were injured and hospitalized.
Details of the Tragedy
According to the Mykolaiv Regional Police, officers located and detained the driver of a Nissan Murano crossover, who is believed to have caused the fatal crash.
The 45-year-old man from another region was stopped a few hours after the accident on the Blahovishchenske–Mykolaiv road. According to preliminary information and eyewitness accounts, the driver of the Nissan Murano was moving in the oncoming lane, which created a dangerous situation for the minibus.
As a result of the collision:
- 49-year-old minibus driver and eight passengers were killed at the scene.
- Nine people were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity (including the 49-year-old truck driver and minibus passengers aged 15 to 67).
Later, three more victims died in hospital from their injuries, bringing the total death toll to 12.

Investigation Underway
Police are conducting a full investigation into the circumstances of the accident. The driver of the Nissan Murano is in custody.
This is one of the deadliest road accidents in the region in recent times. Road safety remains a critical issue on Ukrainian highways.
