On the morning of August 30, the National Police of Ukraine reported that a public and political figure was killed in Lviv
According to sources from Suspilne, the victim was Andriy Parubiy, former Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament and a member of the 9th convocation of the Verkhovna Rada from the European Solidarity party, as reported by DROBRO.
According to the police, around noon today, a report of a shooting in Lviv’s Frankivskyi district was received via the 102 hotline. The victim died at the scene due to sustained injuries. It has been established that the deceased was a well-known public and political figure born in 1971. Investigative and operational teams from the Main Investigative Department of the National Police, the Lviv Region Police, the Security Service of Ukraine, and other relevant authorities are involved in solving and investigating the case.
Law enforcement is taking all measures to identify the shooter and their whereabouts. All details will be disclosed in accordance with criminal procedural legislation. According to local channels, Andriy Parubiy was shot by a man carrying a Glovo courier bag.
UPDATE: President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the politician’s death.
“Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko and Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko have just reported on the initial known circumstances of the horrific murder in Lviv. Andriy Parubiy has been killed. My condolences to his family and loved ones. All necessary forces and resources are engaged in the investigation and search for the killer,” – Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram.
