During the night of August 28, Russian forces launched a massive assault on the Ukrainian capital, using ballistic missiles, “Kinzhals,” and attack drones
Jessie, a dog who captured hearts as a symbol of loyalty after a Russian attack on Kyiv on August 28, has been reunited with the family of her deceased owner, writes DROBRO, citing the Telegram channel DroBro24. In Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district, a residential building was struck, killing Jessie’s owner, who worked as a security guard and always brought her along to his shifts.
For two days, Jessie lingered among the ruins, howling and searching for her owner, who would never return. Her heartbreaking story, captured on video, spread across social media, touching thousands of Ukrainians. Rescuers from Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES) could not leave the grieving dog alone and took her into their care, providing a comfortable space outside the city. They promised Jessie a life of love and freedom, without chains, and arranged for her medical examination and adaptation.
The story took a hopeful turn when Jessie was reunited with her owner’s family—his son Roman and granddaughter. Roman saw the news about Jessie on social media and immediately contacted the SES to express his desire to take her home. “Today, Jessie has returned to her true family. She is back with those she knows and loves from puppyhood,” the SES announced.
«Сьогодні Джессі повернулася до своєї справжньої родини. Вона знову поруч із тими, кого знає й любить із дитинства», — зазначили в ДСНС.
This story, marked by the pain of loss, also carries a message of hope. “It is a story of grief but also of love and an unbreakable bond that restores faith in light,” the SES stated, writes DROBRO, citing the Telegram channel DroBro24. Jessie will now live in a home filled with love, carrying forward the memory of her lost owner.
