As reported by DROBRO, citing law enforcement, excessive speeding by drivers caused 112 traffic accidents with injuries in Ukraine’s Lviv region in August 2025.
In these crashes, 16 people lost their lives, and 140 others were injured. Police warn that exceeding safe and legal speed limits reduces reaction time in critical situations, posing a severe risk to the life and health of drivers and other road users. High speeds increase the likelihood of accidents, and any mistake can be fatal.
Under Ukrainian law, penalties for speeding include:
– Under Part 1, Article 122 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (exceeding speed limits by more than 20 km/h), a fine of UAH 340.
– Under Part 4, Article 122 (exceeding speed limits by more than 50 km/h), a fine of UAH 1,700.
Police remind drivers that speed limits are 50 km/h in populated areas, 90 km/h outside them, 110 km/h on roads with a dividing strip, and 130 km/h on highways. Adhering to these limits is critical for road safety.
Authorities urge drivers to be responsible and cautious, emphasizing that following speed limits is a vital contribution to safer roads for everyone.
